Mydrawings

On this part of the website I will list, and discuss topics relating to anime, gaming, and manga culture .

I have been watching anine, and playing video games since elementary school, and both of these hobbies are big part of my life . I was a relatively socially isolated kid, so instead of playing with other kids I generally spent time in my moms apartment, or grandmothers house consuming nerd media .

Some of my favorite Otaku media

The Monogatari Series is my favorite anime of all time. I first started watching it in 2019, and I have loved it ever since . From the avant garde direction, to the impactful voice acting, and many long lingering dialogue focused scenes I love Monogatari . I’m always going back, and rewatching episodes, finding new details, and I get giddy, and happy every time I do .

Va-11 Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action isn't a traditional game . It’s a visual novel, so the game is mostly story focused, despite that Va-11 Hall-A is probably one of the most intriguing, and immersive games I have ever played . There are so many great lovable characters who have dialogue that I just can’t stop clicking through .

Made In Abyss Review

Made in Abyss has been an anime I have heard a lot about for a long time . I remember it being the talk of the English Speaking Anime community when it first came out in 2017 . I have heard for many years about how amazing this show was, and have seen it, its subsequent movies, and second season consistently be highly rated on MAL . All that to say I had high expectations of Made in Abyss when I started it, and I’m happy to say the praise of this show was warranted . From the start we are introduced to this mysterious, and intriguing world where we are left asking so many questions . Why is there a giant pit in the middle of this island ? Why are there these other worldly creatures that inhabit this giant pit ? Why does this pit slowly worsen the health of people who descent through it ? Why is there this robot boy from the bottom of this pit ? With all these questions, and these cute, and endearing characters the show made a good first impression . Our main character Riko’s enduring curiosity about the world, determination, and joyfulness made her a ray of sunshine throughout the show . Though sometimes violating Regs boundaries, her child-like innocence still helps her be adorable throughout . Reg the robot boy is just as adorable with his boyish determination to protect Riko alongside his bashfulness, which makes him a dear to be around during the duration of the show . Nanachi, a character initially introduced as a kind, and caring, yet sleazy person appears a bit later on in the series . When we first meet her we see her helping save Rikos life, with her protecting, and caring for what remains of her childhood friend Mitty, seemingly spending many years looking after her . This is contrasted with her mocking Reg for crying for his friend who’s seemingly dying . Ultimately though she seems like a good natured person . There are various other less important characters that we meet along our way, and all in all I didn’t have many problems with the characters, and I thought the show handled them pretty well . Besides the characters I found there are many other great things about this show . The design of The Town of Orth brings beauty to my eyes . It has a central European style that I adore, and I would love to just walk through the town . Besides the town, throughout the show we get to see The Abyss, this dangerous yet engulfing place . It truly has such a beautiful appearance, it’s a shame that the characters of this world can’t peacefully experience it . Throughout The Abyss there are plenty of serene sights, a prime example being the many fields of Eternal Fortunes Flowers that we get to see . The music accompanying the scenery, and characters is also great . This show has one of the few anime soundtracks that I felt I had to look up afterwards . I’m not very talented in regards to describing music, but I will say the way the music is used alongside the visual direction of this show is amazing, and truly brings this show up many heights . Sadly just like with every show there are problems, the biggest one for me personally being that the world is just hard to holistically understand . Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention, but there were many times where the specifics of the world didn’t feel explained well . I will also say there are just so many scenes where the younger characters are just underdressed during the duration of the show . The show never directly sexualizes the characters, but it's just strange that such young characters are seemingly underdressed at so many opportunities . Overall I enjoyed the show, and would recommend it to people, especially those who are accustomed to anime weirdness.

Chainsaw Man Review

(This is an old review from some time ago)Chainsaw Man was a disappointment to me, when I watched the first episodes I was at awe from the uniquely dark premise for a Shonen Jump anime, the gory, and well animated fight scenes . Needless to say, I was excited to learn more about Denji's father, how Denji's life was during his early childhood, and the continuous fight to pay off his debt to this mysterious criminal organization . Almost none of that happened though, all we got was a few shoehorned scenes about this dog-like pet named Pochita Denji has that dies in the first episode . I wish we could have seen their relationship over a more extended period of time . Beyond that disappointment I enjoyed many of the interactions between power and Denji. Their childish sibling-like banter was consistently adorable throughout the show even though at first it was a bit to get used too . Makima's Mysterious, morally questionable lure had me asking who is she, and what's her motive . I also loved how badass she came across through the later episodes . Denji himself was kind of a meh character to me, though I did enjoy his non typical morals, and motivations in juxtaposition to other Shonen protagonist . I thought the soundtrack to Chainsaw man was amazing at every turn, sometimes it was dreamy, and scenic, and in other instances it was intense, and full of base . Overall I give it a 7/10 . I'll probably end up reading the manga .

I Love Kiki

I have known of Studio Ghibli’s movies, and their reputation ever since I was a little kid in primary school . Even so I never watched one of their movies as a young child, when I watched Spirited Away at age 15 it was the first time I experienced a Ghibli movie . I recall thinking it was really good, it made me understand the reputation of the studio . I haven’t watched Spirited Away since then, but I have watched various other movies Created by Studio Ghibli since then, those movies being Kiki’s Delivery Service, and My Neighbor Totoro . I didn’t like either of those movies very much . I did develop a love for the character Kiki though . I have used her as an icon on various social media platforms consistently since then, and in the development of my Youtube project I have used her a lot . If I had to put why I love Kiki into words I would probably say this . Her fierce determination to become a proper witch alongside her simple, but adorable black dress, and red bow make her character dear to me . I basically only wrote all this just to express my love for Kiki .
